Chapter One: the modern local

Sunday brunch? One of my favorite meals. I can't always get into sweet, carb-loading breakfasts, but brunch generally has a great combination of savory and sweet. Plus, I feel it has a bit more room for creativity on the part of the chef. Located in DTF (not down-to-f**k but Downtown Fullerton, as the locals there like to call it) to have brunch with "the girls" ... plus David, who is an honorary member.

smoked salmon omlette, jerk seasoning, cream cheese, tobiko caviar, citrus sour cream

coconut crusted shrimp, bed of curry sauce, cabbage slaw & pineapple

Elvis - Grand Marnier french toast, caramelized grilled bananas, coconut peanut butter spread

Special K french toast - brioche bread, seasonal fruit, almonds, bourbon maple syrup

duck fat fries, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper

scotch egg - hard boiled egg, ground turkey panko crust, asian mustard mango sauce

Sinatra mimosa flight, champagne, fresh mixers & juices

The portions were pretty small, which is why we ordered three appetizars after we had our entrees. However, everyone else loved it because it was unlimited champange and fresh juice mixers (orange, pineapple, guava, something else) for $5. THAT'S a deal.

  1. OMG, this brunch feels like it was ages ago (before Chicago even?!)

Chapter One is in DTSA (Santa Ana!) Maybe we can find a new brunch place in DTF and you can use the abbreviation again, lol.
